People ask me if I work out everyday when I tell them yes pretty much they think I'm obsessed, I call it dedication and loving what you do. When they ask me how they can look like me, then I laugh cause you really have to work at it, it doesn't come easy. I like to have goals when I'm working out whether for running a race or just so my son can have a hot mom at the beach, I need a focus so this year it will be to compete! So far I've had great encouragement and support to help me achieve this goal, I sometimes work out with friends who train others but I also work out on my own. Currently I weight train about five to six days a week and cardio about four days, I usually weight train in the morning then go back in the afternoon for cardio; that's the benefit of working across the street from a gym! No excuses! Currently I'm at 125-128lbs and just under 16% body fat, my diet hasn't changed too much I eat pretty healthy but I still snack when I want too or eat things that I could do without for now, once March rolls around I will have to be eating a lot cleaner as that will be key to cutting back the remaning body fat. I'm a little nervous as there is so much I don't really know about like the posing, getting a bathing suit made and the list goes on but I'm gonna take it one day at a time. Stay tuned for more...

Good luck with your prep!
An amazing suit designer is Tamee Marie. I first heard of her by following Erin Stern's career! She is a pleasure to work with and her suits are absolutely stunning. She works with any budget and has payment plans!!!!

I'm glad I found this proboard. I am getting ready for the May 13 show in Mississauga. Novice Figure division and I am 41 yrs old. My first show and I'm soooo excited to get up there and show my hard work.
Anyone competing at this show with me? I would really love to share experiences with someone other than my coach!
To anyone who will be at the May 13 show, I look forward to meeting you;) Good luck with your prep!

BIG Thanks to ashleyeve for the recommendation for Tamee Marie suits. I had an incredibly hard time finding the perfect suit for me...the ones on her website are all so gorgeous.
Anyway, a brief chat with Tamee and she selected a few based on my measurements and colouring. I found my suit and I'm in love with it already!!!!
I have the same feelings about this suit as I did when I found my wedding dress (how twisted is that!)

Ill be competing in the novice figure in Mississauga as well. How awesome to see may others doing the same from various ages too, goes to show its never too late!! Great inspiration! Thanks for the suit info I've been looking at quiet a bit of various sites I have an idea as to what I like but having someone else that knows this subject better and knows what will suit my body definetely helps. Will have to finalize soon! Are you all going to the workshop? It will be awesome to meet people before the show and talk about prepping and all that great stuff, my friends aren't competing so they don't get the hype lol. This week I've worked out all body parts but need to increase my cardio a bit as well have to clean up my diet soon like starting next week as the time will go by very quick. What's everyone's fears or concerns? Are you nervous? Excited?

Great to meet you Agathi - Looking forward to meeting you in person at the contest. I've already signed up for a workshop elsewhere (through my coach) so I think I'm going to that one. Too bad...should have held out for the IDFA workshop! Anyway, in response to your question "How is everyone feeling". I started training for this one in December. I know thats a long time ago, but since its my first contest I wanted to make sure I was prepared. So I've had some time to really digest how I feel about competing. I went through a few stages of emotion actually. When I told my husband I wanted to compete and he said "Go for it" I was totally excited. When I found my coach who explained to me what I can expect out of the next few months, I was terrified. Now....I feel indestructible. Not sure if that's an emotion, but its the best way I can define my feelings about this competition. I can't wait to get on stage - I don't care how I place or if I place at all. I just want to say I trained hard, dieted hard and presented the best "me". My only regret is I wish I found this sport 20 years ago... How do you feel?

That's awesome Robin, I go through the various emotions, I'm excited and nervous, then I am like who am I kidding lol its a rollercoaster of emotions. As the date seems closer and there is stuff besides working out that needs get done, like picking a suit, practising posing, the workshop its exciting, its hard to balance everything though when you have to work and then personal stuff too. That's great that your husband is supportive it's important that family and friends are. I agree its not where you place but to say you did that's a huge accomplishment. Good luck and keep in touch with the progress.

Did anyone weaken last night or did you all stay strong!!! I'm back on the diet HARD today but I need a kick in the pants from my fellow competitors please!
